This article reminds me of so many "firsts" we had to challenge for Kevin through the years. This article was a result of the town of Chicago Heights fighting the building of the first group home IN THE NATION in a residential neighborhood for special needs people. The U.S. had recently passed the Amendment to the Fair Housing Act that allowed such a thing. Of course Chicago Heights LOST a lawsuit they were so dumb to take on, so the city had to pay $10,000. to the building agency, and $1,000. to each of the first 16 residents who moved in to Broadway Terrace. Kevin was the very first as he had been wanting to "get out of here" from living with mom and dad at 31.
We took him to HAWAII with his $1,000 !!!
